The session will focus on Earth-mass (terrestrial) planets in orbits close to their parent stars, objects that could be detected by the COROT and Kepler missions and ground-based high-precision radial velocity surveys. Topics will include how such planets might form, how physically and chemically diverse they might be, how their properties might be determined, and whether any of them might be able to support recognizable life.
